Horror legend Clive Barker, Project Greenlight, and Shudder teamed up recently to give the filmmaking community a chance to earn a $300,000 budget to create the horror film of their dreams. Now that submissions are closed, the voting process can begin and Barker and Shudder are asking the public to let their voices be heard. That’s why you can now vote on 10 semi-finalists starting today and running through April 25th.
The audience winner will automatically move on to the next round and become one of five finalists to receive funding to direct a proof-of-concept scene that demonstrates their abilities. Then, this June, the finalists will partake in the second annual Shudder Labs where one filmmaker will take home the $300k to make their horror film. They’ll also have Barker as their mentor through the process.
Discussing the triple partnership, Barker explains, “When I was looking for financing while making Hellraiser, I wish there was a company like Project Greenlight Digital Studios behind me. Teaming up with Adaptive Studios and Shudder is a wonderful opportunity to support emerging filmmakers in creating something truly iconic. This is a great chance to scare and entertain audiences at the same time.”
