Ryan Murphy Teases What’s Ahead in American Horror Story: Roanoke; Season 7 Theme WILL Be Revealed in the Spring

“American Horror Story’s” renewal for a seventh “chapter” came earlier this month, and during a conference call today exec producer Ryan Murphy teased a bit of what we can expect along with revealing a few more details about what’s ahead in the currently airing Season 6, subtitled “Roanoke.”

Per TVLine, with regard to the upcoming Season 7, “We’re going to announce [the premise] in the spring,” said Murphy. “We’re not doing a secrecy thing [like Season 6], but [next season] does have a big hook behind it.” According to Murphy, it involves several characters from the series’ “Freak Show” installment.

Now, as for “Roanoke,” Murphy explained that beginning this week, “Something happens where half the cast is revealed to be doing something completely different than you’ve seen in the first five [episodes]. You realize what you’ve been watching with some of the characters is not [who] they are. [The actors] had to do a mad scramble to find new voices and accents. It is a big turn. It’s the biggest plot twist we’ve ever done with the show. And there’s a startling announcement in Act 3 that resets the season up until Episode 10.”

As for any cast members we’ve yet to see in “Roanoke,” both Taissa Farmiga and Finn Wittrock will be making appearances this season in unspecified roles.

Lastly, Murphy confirmed that Lady Gaga’s “Roanoke” character is, in fact, the “Original Supreme,” adding that he plans to bring the character back in a future “AHS” season that will “return to Coven.”

Given that “Coven” was one of our least favorite seasons and “Freak Show” was among what we consider the show’s best, we have a bit of a mixed bag here as far as we’re concerned.  What say you guys?
